West Bengal governor calls on President Droupadi Murmu

New Governor of West Bengal R. N. Ravi has called on President Droupadi Murmu at the Rashtrapati Bhavan here in New Delhi today.

Former Tamil Nadu governor Ravi is one of the governor of a major reshuffle of governors ahead of the Rajya Sabha elections.

When did Ravi took charge of West Bengal?

Ravi was sworn in as West Bengal governor on March 12 by the Chief Justice Calcutta High Court Sujoy Paul in the presence of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, Assembly speaker Biman Banerjee, Calcutta Mayor Firhad Hakim and Left Front chairman Biman Bose.

How is the meeting significant?

The meeting between Ravi and President Droupadi Murmu attained significance after the announcement of the poll dates for West Bengal. The state will be going for elections on April 23 and 29 with the results scheduled for May 4.

On 13th of this month newly appointed Lt Governor of Delhi Taranjit Singh Sandhu has called on the President and has expressed his satisfaction of that meeting. President Droupadi Murmu has also called for a breakfast meeting with the M. Ps from the states of Uttarakhand, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Delhi, Chandigarh, Ladakh and Gujarat.
