The Indo-Canada Chamber of Commerce (ICCC) hosted a business delegation from the Punjab Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCI) for an interactive business forum focused on strengthening Ontario-Punjab commercial ties, expanding Canada-India business collaboration, and creating new opportunities for Canadian small and medium-sized enterprises to engage with India.

In his welcome remarks, Prashant Srivastava, President of ICCC, welcomed the PCCI delegation and described the visit as an important continuation of bilateral engagement between Canada and India. He noted that ICCC was the first Canadian chamber to lead a trade delegation of 25 Canadian companies to Punjab following the reset of Canada-India relations by Prime Minister Mark Carney.

Srivastava highlighted the strong and historic ties between Ontario and Punjab, emphasizing how deep people-to-people connections have helped create meaningful business-to-business relationships between the two provinces. He also recognized the significant contribution of the Punjabi community to Canada’s social, cultural, and economic growth.

Hon. Nina Tangri, Ontario’s Associate Minister of Small Business, shared remarks on Ontario’s economic strengths and opportunities for collaboration with Punjab, particularly in bringing advanced technologies and innovative solutions to Punjab’s agricultural sector.

Minister Tangri also reflected on her visit to Punjab with the ICCC delegation and reinforced the importance of building practical business linkages between Ontario and Punjab.

Business Forum Discusses Intra-Company Transfers

Sumit Sen and Aditi Arora of Sen Law Firm provided insights on intra-company transfers, explaining how foreign businesses with a parent company, branch, subsidiary, or affiliate in Canada may bring key personnel to Canada through this pathway to support business expansion and operational continuity.

Punjab Chamber Highlights Opportunities for Canadian Businesses

Opinder Singh, Executive Director of the Punjab Chamber of Commerce and Industry, introduced the delegation members and shared their experience participating in Saskatchewan’s agriculture-focused business programming before visiting Ontario.

He outlined opportunities for Canadian businesses in Punjab and emphasized PCCI’s role in guiding Canadian SMEs interested in exploring partnerships, market entry, and sector-specific business opportunities in the region.

ICCC Business Forum Brings Together Industry Leaders

The forum was emceed by Tejas Aivalli, Executive Director of ICCC, and was attended by ICCC Board Members, former ICCC President Kanwarjit Dhanjal, more than 60 ICCC members, industry leaders, and members of the media.

The gathering provided an opportunity for business representatives and industry leaders to discuss potential areas of cooperation and explore ways to strengthen commercial relationships between Canada and India.
