Tata Motors reported a sharp increase in Tata Motors PV sales July 2026, with total volumes rising nearly 59% year-on-year, while its electric vehicle business crossed 15,000 monthly wholesales for the first time. The company sold 63,760 passenger vehicles, including domestic sales and exports, up from 40,175 units in July 2025, according to Tata Motors.

The overall increase amounts to a 58.71% year-on-year rise, driven by demand across both internal combustion engine and electric vehicle segments, the company said. Domestic passenger vehicle sales alone stood at 62,611 units in July 2026, compared with 39,521 units in the same month last year, an increase of 23,090 units, or 58.42% year-on-year.

Month-on-month, domestic sales showed more modest movement. Tata Motors sold 62,076 units domestically in June 2026, meaning July’s total represented a gain of 535 units, or 0.86%, compared with the previous month. Exports also rose during the period, climbing to 1,149 units in July 2026 from 654 units a year earlier, a year-on-year increase of 75.69%.

The company’s electric vehicle division recorded its strongest month yet, with 15,217 units sold compared with 7,124 units in July 2025. That marks an increase of 8,093 units, or 113.60% year-on-year, and represents the first time Tata Motors has surpassed 15,000 EV wholesales in a single month as part of its Tata Motors PV sales July 2026 performance. The company said it also recorded its highest-ever Vahan registrations during the period, indicating that retail demand kept pace with wholesale dispatches.

Among individual models, Tata Motors said its Punch hatchback recorded its highest-ever monthly sales in July 2026. The company also pointed to strong booking momentum across both its passenger vehicle and electric vehicle portfolios during the month, without specifying exact booking figures.

Tata Motors attributed the overall sales performance to continued strength in its SUV lineup alongside its established position in India’s electric passenger vehicle market. The company did not disclose specific reasons behind the surge in EV demand beyond citing sustained momentum across its electric offerings. The strong domestic showing also comes as several global consumer and manufacturing companies continue to navigate shifting international trade conditions, with some firms reporting tariff-related losses affecting their US sales in recent months.

Looking ahead, Tata Motors is expected to introduce a new variant of its Nexon SUV in the coming days, aimed at reinforcing one of its best-selling models. The company is also likely to launch the Safari EV ahead of the festive season, building on momentum generated by the recent introduction of the Sierra EV, though Tata Motors has not confirmed an official launch date for either model.

The anticipated Safari EV launch is expected to further extend Tata Motors’ presence in the electric passenger vehicle segment as competition in India’s EV market continues to intensify. The company has not detailed specific sales targets for the remainder of the year, and its Tata Motors PV sales July 2026 figures represent company-reported wholesale and export data rather than independently audited industry statistics.

Tata Motors has not issued a separate statement beyond the sales figures shared for July 2026, and no additional commentary from company executives was included in the available reporting.
