Toronto, Ontario , The Indo-Canada Chamber of Commerce (ICCC) hosted a business delegation from the Punjab Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCI), focusing on strengthening Ontario-Punjab commercial ties, expanding Canada-India business collaboration, and creating new opportunities for Canadian small and medium-sized enterprises to engage with India.
In his welcome remarks, ICCC President Prashant Srivastava welcomed the PCCI delegation and described the visit as an important continuation of bilateral relations between Canada and India. He noted that ICCC was the first Canadian chamber to lead a trade delegation of 25 Canadian companies to Punjab following the reset of Canada-India relations by Prime Minister Mark Carney.
Srivastava highlighted the strong and historic ties between Ontario and Punjab, emphasizing how deep people-to-people connections have helped create meaningful business-to-business relationships between the two provinces. He also recognized the significant contribution of the Punjabi community to Canada’s social, cultural, and economic growth.

Hon. Nina Tangri, Ontario’s Associate Minister of Small Business, shared remarks on Ontario’s economic strengths and opportunities for collaboration with Punjab, particularly in bringing advanced technologies and innovative solutions to Punjab’s agricultural sector. Minister Tangri also reflected on her visit to Punjab with the ICCC delegation and emphasized the importance of building practical business relationships between Ontario and Punjab.
Sumit Sen and Aditi Arora of Sen Law Firm provided information about intra-company transfers, explaining how foreign businesses with a parent company, branch, subsidiary, or affiliate in Canada can bring key personnel to Canada through this pathway to support business expansion and operational continuity.
Opinder Singh, Executive Director of the Punjab Chamber of Commerce and Industry, introduced the delegation members and shared their experiences participating in Saskatchewan’s agriculture-focused business programs before visiting Ontario. He outlined opportunities for Canadian businesses in Punjab and emphasized PCCI’s role in guiding Canadian SMEs interested in exploring partnerships, market entry, and sector-specific business opportunities in the region.

The forum was led by Tejas Aivalli, Executive Director of ICCC, and attended by ICCC Board Members, former ICCC President Kanwarjit Dhanjal, more than 60 ICCC members, industry leaders, and members of the media.
ICCC and PCCI encouraged Canadian SMEs, entrepreneurs, exporters, and investors to explore opportunities in Punjab and the broader Indian market, particularly in sectors such as agriculture, food processing, clean technology, advanced manufacturing, education, professional services, and innovation-driven industries.
Canadian companies interested in learning more about doing business in Punjab or participating in future ICCC trade missions and business forums are encouraged to connect with the Indo-Canada Chamber of Commerce for guidance, introductions, and upcoming engagement opportunities.
